FTS: For The STATE

I'm sorry I've been gone for awhile, but writer's block set in as I had not much to say. FTS went to Toss with 13 people, ended up with 11, lost on universe blah blah blah... I actually have some news to report. The block has ended with an FTS win at sectionals, its first since coming into existence. With other regions and sections falling short on the number of teams, there were four bids into regionals for the Florida Section. FTS wasn't worried, but they didn't settle for just making it in... they wanted the gold.
Seeded at 3rd in the tournament, behind Tampa's Uproar and Gainesville's Florida, FTS had a mission to not only break seed, but to obliterate any thought that they should have been seeded 3rd. First things first however, they had to prove it with 5 wins in a row on Saturday.
First game of the day was against the Wailers, in which FTS had to come out strong if they wanted to set a good tone for the rest of the day. A couple of weird catches worthy of ESPN top 10 and a solid turnover offense later, FTS came out with a win 11-6.
But it's not enough....
Midnight Special was next, the only Masters team out of the section (who unfortunately had to forfiet, but wanted to scrimmage FTS anyways). It was time to work on their zone offense and defense... With solid handling by Brandon Geick and Joe Segal, and solid popping by Bill Igar and Phil Stokes, it was hard to imagine them getting broken. FTS wins 11-0.
Still not enough, as FTS takes on their rival from Tampa: Uproar. FTS still had a bitter feeling as Uproar beat them on universe in the semis at Toss in the Moss. It was time to pull out everything they had to win this game. Needless to say, it was one of the most intense games FTS has ever played in as pushing, yelling, calls, and spikes amped up the game a couple notches. However, despite the intensity, both teams played their heart out to universe point and FTS came up victorious. Solid D by FTS' own Matt Robinson, Quint Wharton, Mike and Scotty Hickson, Danny Bumgarner Garret Braun and Kyle Bettis led the charge in the 2nd half. FTS takes down uproar 12-11.
Post Uproar, there was nothing any team could do to stop the FTS train on its way to finals. FTS takes its counterpart For The Glory 11-2 and Tallahassee's Mark It Zero 11-6.
FTS makes it to the finals, and looks forward to finally beating Florida when it mattered most.
11:30am on Sunday and FTS is beyond warmed up and pumped up. Florida rolls in with 8, missing their core, but it doesnt matter to FTS. The team isn't called Brodie, it's called Florida, and regardless they wanted to destroy both. It wasn't a game to FTS anymore, it was an insult that, unfortunately, the remaining 8 had to pay for... Countless amounts of D's on FTS side got them to take half 7-5 but it was sloppy on O and turnover O. 2nd half came, and FTS came out the way they always should, grabbing the reins, ripping them off, bolting a steering wheel (in true America fashion), and driving them into the ground. FTS takes Florida and WINS sectionals with a score of 13-6.
Congratulations to FTS and thank you Interstate Courier Service Inc., for sponsoring.
Look for a preview of Regionals on here as FTS will probably take the 4th or 5th seed.
tick tick...........
