Week 2

The Dogs will bring a squad of players to the capital this Friday to face our biggest rival, DUF. We will be bringing past some A team vets, B team vets and rookies to face off against FSU. Their will be some intense Ultimate during this game as the Dogs plan to bring their best and leave NOTHING but their best on the field. The outcome of this match will set the pace for our team this year as this will be a great time for the A team captains to start to evaluate the vast potential of the UCF Ultimate Frisbee club.

Incase you missed Surmin's email, here are the main fats about practice this season.

"1. Work you harder than you've ever worked. - I really don't think you guys understand how much time other teams spend on fitness. How do you think Florida, Florida St., and all those teams at nationals are able to play their best 9 or 10 guys all tourney and still win? Cause they work REALLY hard, and run a lot. You guys don't understand what needs to be done to get there, but I will help you figure that out, quickly.

2. I will push you harder than you've ever been pushed. - Improving your fitness requires you to do things waaaaay outside of your comfort zone. If you do things the way you normally do in your comfort zone, than you are not getting better. I will break down your soft little barriers and teach you how to push your body. The results will be the best shape you've ever been in.

3. Improve mental and physical toughness. - Self explanatory. I dont want complainers or whiners. It's very simple. If you do all the workouts I ask, you will get better. If you don't want to get better, don't come.
-Surmin
This should apply are every practice this year. The potential of this team is enormous.
2011 is our year guys, let prove to the NATION what We can do.

-Clutch

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://dogsofwar2010.blogspot.com/2010/09/dogs-2011-week-2.html' title='Dogs 2011. Blogger is not NOPY-Friendly.

Now Comes Saturday...
The Dogs woke up extremely early... Not because they're were way too pumped to sleep, but because we had to go to a different field site; compared to the fields on Campus, these fields looked something out of the future with SkyNet ruling the world.

Game 1: Chicago

The Dogs warmed up, got taped, urinated in public... whatever they had to do to get the ball rolling, but something was different this time... The Dogs had their second good-looking Captain back. Andrew Roca took the field all patched up on the left side, but felt and looked ready to go. With the late arrival of Mike Hickson, the Dogs had to adjust the offensive line. New additions Matt "Car SLon" Carlson and Thomas Bobango filled the gaps seamlessly, keeping the disc moving and coming down with some sick catches, the two were really clicking into the offense led by handlers Andrew Roca, Kyle Bettis and Brandon Geick. The Handlers were moving the disc effortlessly all over the field and cutters Quint Wharton and Jeff Surmin were coming down with either sick rips or easy scores caught in stride. On the Defensive side, the Dogs took awhile to get on their feet, but once Kofi Thompson, Matt Reedy and Dan Andrews set the tone with awesome layout D's, the Defense got rolling against Chicago. Dogs O kept them in the game, giving away only one break. Dogs take Chicago 13-10.

Game 2: Georgia College and State

Dogs lost the pull (common theme for the rest of the weekend) and started on Offense. Deep play it was, however Roca put a little too much on it and out of bounds. Dogs set up on D and force a high stall count huck deep and Roca comes down with a rip, moves the disc upfield and O puts in a shaky point. Time for D to take charge, "firing out of all cylinders" as Dreamy-Reedy would put it, the Dogs D helped take half 7-5. The Dogs were determined to end it hard... and with the help of Defensive newbies Nick "Pizza" Preziosi and Ben "Lefty" Kuykendall, the Dogs rolled their way to victory 13-10.

Game 3: USF-B

The Dogs needed to keep up the intensity for their crossover game and USF-B were no different than any other team they will play. The Dogs came out firing and hoped to end the game 13-0. Coach Bill opened the lines, and got starters pumped while watching their teammates rip down hucks, throw scores and get layout D's on their goal line (Aaron Miller). The Dogs took half 7-0 and finished the game 13-1. The newer Dogs really stepped it up and set the tone for the next game. Rookies Taylor Armstrong, Kevin Shields and Will Furiosi had a field day as each of them caught a D or score and Kevin threw a huge "ill-advised" hammer. Dogs get ready for the crossover...

Game 4: Valdosta State

After a stunning upset in pool B, Valdosta beats South Carolina to take the pool. The Dogs were ready. Valdosta was known for having small numbers, but big players. The Dogs had to win with their legs. Dogs breaks continue and Offense being efficient and effective with fast paced offense that move horizontally across the field. Dogs take Valdosta 13-6 and take the Day by storm 4-0.

Sunday: "Silver doesn't get you laid..."

Game 5: UF-B

UF-B started strong keeping up with the Dogs point for point until the Dogs grabbed their first break of the day with the help of stellar layout D's by Matt "Dreamy" Reedy. The Dogs as a team, took advantage of the better fields and hit the grass as much as they could... countless layouts by all players included a layout D catch by Roca (called back by foul) and sick bids by Kofi "Koffee-Black" Thompson get the Dogs pumped and rolling... Dogs take the game 13-6.

Game 6 Quarters: GA Southern

GA Southern were tall and athletic, but the Dogs kept their match-ups tight and their offense tighter. First point of the game was on Defense, and after a D by Dan "Ash" Andrews Matt Reedy throws a tight-side wide-side throw for a score. Dogs break to start the game. GA Southern and the Dogs traded till half, sick bids on both sides, but the Dogs were coming down with D's they couldn't convert. However the Dog's offense were relentless and kept the game moving with nearly no breaks. Car SLon makes a DIIIIRRRRTYYYY layout hammer catch for a score and the Dogs walk away from the Quarters 13-10.

Game 7 Semis: Columbia

Columbia has been coming off a upsetting day as they took down Townson in the Pre-Quarters and Carleton GOP in the quarters. All the while, the wind is picking up enough for zone play. Columbia and UCF traded until right before half when the Dogs picked up a break and then got broken back before half. It was a dogfight to the finals and it was only a matter of time before someone would light the spark to the finals. In the second half it was Matt Reedy and Jeff Surmin with the ridiculous set of Layout D's. On a turn Kyle Bettis got his turn to throw hucks throwing one to Roca for a score. Defense won the game against Columbia... the Dogs threw their bodies around a got D's in return. Dogs take Columbia 9-7.

Game 8 Finals: FSU

FSU on paper were killing teams left and right. Even betting Columbia more easily than UCF, but in their semis I'm sure everyone was surprised to see DUF train roll over number 1 seed in the tournament Ohio State. So the finals were looking like a legendary sectionals match-up. DUF were determined to take this weekend and the ultimate nation by storm, but then there was UCF. The Dogs started the game slow and DUF capitalized on UCF's mistakes taking the break to start the game. 1-0. Dogs needed to work it upwind to get their defense and magic back on the field. Dogs march it upwind and a bump-out later the Dogs tied it up at 1's. D-line needed to get one back for us, and they did. Kofi Thompson get's a sick layout D and our D-Line slowly worked its way for a break to bring it back on serve 2-1. Dogs keep power up a little and get another break by way of hammers. God knows how many hammer scores were thrown this weekend. Dogs lead 3-1.

"The Point"
Dogs pull downwind, Roca lays up a blading flick to the back of the endzone and makes DUF work it out upwind from the back of the endzone. DUF works it up past half-field, then a mis-communication and great man defense causes a turnover. Bettis, Roca and Reedy move the disc up the field, Roca fills into the stack as Bettis hits quint 15 yards out of FSU's endzone. Quint looks up to see Roca open deep, Quint blasts an outside in flick deep into the endzone... Roca runs it down, lays out and catches the score near the back of the endzone. Celebration was over quick when a DUF player was sure Roca was out the back. With a camera on one side and a viewer on the other side calling Roca in, the DUF player ensued the disc go back because it was "questionable". This call turned into a 15 minute argument, which inevitably ends up going back and igniting an angry Roca within. Dogs and DUF trade turns until the dogs trap them on their goal line with a strong bracket. DUF handler makes a mistake putting it out into space in front of the goal-line and Quint grabs the callahan. DOGS GET PUMPED.... DUF has saw the beginning of the end. After that Dogs turned took half 7-1. Determined to make sure DUF doesn't make any kind of comeback, Dogs keep the pedal down and continue to roll. DUF started to roll over until an amazing catch that led to their second score. Dogs up 12-2. Dogs broke to win...

13-2.

Thomas Bobango didn't make it more than 10 feet without being tackled by the pack of Dogs rushing the field. Dogs win Southerns and their first tournament in their 7 year history.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 299px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_d9M7zLzwfLY/S6xkSKLm7tI/AAAAAAAAAMM/aGT32lw0UhQ/s400/CIMG0034.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5452843511972294354" />

The Dogs played the weekend of their lives. The team as a whole grew and in the end it paid off. Everyone, whether on the field or on the sideline, deserves MVP of any category. But if I have to get picky...

Veteran of the Tournament: Matt Reedy
The most amazing Defense I have ever seen him play. Ever.

Honorable Mention: Kofi Thompson
He guarded the most important player on each team we faced, and because of that, he slowed down or completely killed any chance of that player making an impact.

Rookies of the Weekend: The Middle Tier
You guys know who you are, and its because of you guys that we have a trophy to bring home to.

Comeback Player of the Tournament: Andrew Roca
Coming back has never felt so good and the support of his teammates helped his return to be a smooth as possible.

I'll update the blog with pictures from the finals and footage should be collected by Monday. So expect a video or two in the coming week or two.

Nopy Out---------<><><><><><>

How the South was Won: Southerns 2010

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 299px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_d9M7zLzwfLY/S6w-VExhHQI/AAAAAAAAAL8/1iY4wX5S_Gs/s400/CIMG0031.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5452801780618435842" />

Statesboro, GA

The Dogs arrived at the Georgia Southern Campus around 8pm, setting up camp and waiting for the Co-Ed Rookie Game to commence. A few of our own were in it: Kevin! Shields, Taylor "Clutch" Armstrong, Samantha Young, Eryn Ivey, Dan "Chimmy" Chimento, and plain old Mitch "Styles". Like 14 puppies released from a cage, all the Rookies were eager to make some sick plays. However it soon turned into a clumsy fest and our rookies were going down like dominoes. Soon after the game, the Dogs relaxed by the campfire focused on the task ahead... All in all a great way to start the weekend.<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 224px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_d9M7zLzwfLY/S6xBRdTLgiI/AAAAAAAAAME/zoIBZ8qeaz8/s400/26948_1289132104116_1104600272_30793741_4408099_n.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5452805017017483810" />

Tally Classic Wrap-Up

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 155px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_d9M7zLzwfLY/S5h_gpM1VFI/AAAAAAAAALc/rovKjO_JCQs/s320/Dogs_of_War_final_symbol-custom%3Bsize_650,300.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5447243948096836690" />
Tally Classic was this past weekend and the Dogs came into this weekend looking to beat Sectional/Regional rivals that would set the tone for the rest of the year. Saturday was different this time; as there was no well-dressed (black suit, gold tie, running shoes) coach on the sideline. Coach Bill Igar had to attend a wedding on Saturday (hopefully not dressed in Clown attire), and left the reigns to injured Captain Andrew Roca.

It was a chilly morning as the Dogs waited to get onto the fields and warm-up... Only thing standing in their way was below freezing field sites that can't be played on until they heat up over 34 or so degrees. All rounds were delayed 15 mins.

Tally Classic was new to the Dogs as it was their first time at this tournament and their first time playing all their games with "active" observers (stalls, travels, in/out, up/down).

Round 1: Auburn
Their first round match-up was Auburn, who came off a tournament win in Alabama beating some Regional rivals such as Bama and Emory. The Dogs set the tone with a deep look off the bat to AC FOTY Mike Hickson. Offense was on a role in the first half, especially with Brandon Geick, Matt Reedy and rising handler Kyle Bettis at the helm. On the defensive side, Bettis was switch-hitting, and the Andrews Bros. (Charles and Dan) were dominating all over the field. Breaks led to more breaks and the Dogs took half 7-2. In the second half the Dogs seemed to go on Auto-Pilot, letting Auburn build up some steam, but in the end it wasn't enough as the Dogs D put it to rest. Dogs take Auburn 13-7.

Round 2: Winona State (MN)
After a long break, the Dogs warmed up early to face unknown Winona State. Good throwers and tall recievers was Winona; except with a small sideline. The Dogs had to beat them with their legs. Like most of the day, the Dogs killed it in the first half, Quint Wharton (newly added to Offense) was ripping down some ridiculous 50:50s and showing that he had throws as well. Mike "Ogre" Ogren was making a name for himself as he found himself on starting D. His story is Sunday though... But the Dogs found themselves in a similar position as they started the second half with a break, too bad we started the second half on offense. The Dogs dragged it and Winona State fought back to bring it to universe point. But the Dogs in this catagory were flawless. When the Dogs needed it the most, they put it in, and made it count. (that's what she said) Dogs take Winona 13-12.

Round 3: Michigan State
After another long break, the Dogs took a glance at the UCF Women's team (Sirens). They were solid and started their game against USF with a break. The womens team ended up placing 4th in the tournament. Great Job SIRENS! WEEEEEWOOOWEEEEWOOO

So Michigan State... the Dogs had no answer to their flowing offense. And on a turn the Dogs couldn't convert. Safe to say a very frustrating loss for UCF... To their credit, M. State had the most solid offense the Dogs have seen this year. However the Dogs played an improving second half against the Burning Couch and tightend up the score within 4. Dogs fall to Burning Couch 13-9.

Round 4: Alabama
Last game of the day and the Dogs were looking tired. The long breaks between and hard games started to show in this endurance battle against Bama. Bama had this one thing going for them and that was an "Animal"... no name required because they name implies his playing style. This kid was unstoppable. But the Dogs held a short enough leash to keep this game tight. While the Dogs looked tired at points, Captain Jeff Surmin couldn't have looked more comfortable. He was handling, then he was in the stack, and then he'd be on defense. He was the Dogs "Animal" and it proved so on universe point where he came down with a "animalistic" rip to win the game. Dogs take Bama 13-12 in front of a growing crowd.

Roca starts his coaching career with a 3-1 record and possibly a brain aneurysm.

SUNDAY: Bill was back and not in his suit! Defensive studs Matt "Car Slon" Carlson and Charles Andrews woke up with tumors on their ankle and knee. First game of the day was rival FSU.

Let's keep this one brief... Dogs start slow, couldn't dig themselves out of a hole, points were dragged on long enough that the cap blew, Dogs didnt have time to make a comeback, DUF takes it, Dogs meltdown after the game. Dogs re-coup. Let's go to the next game against William and Mary.

W & M: The long breaks and long games took a toll on the Dogs as their starting lines started to break down... true to the spirit of the Dogs of War, the Dogs played through injury and fatigue. However the Dan Andrews and Mike Ogren Story started with a bang. Dan Andrews started throwing hucks! Quite unexpected safe to say. With the newly aggressive Andrews and Ogre holding down W & M's top players, the Dogs pulled this game to another universe point. I'm not sure exactly how this one ended (edit: BUMP-OUT HUCK TO QUINT WHARTON BY BRANDON GEICK) and I'm sure it's on video, but I was so pumped I decided to break my glasses. Dogs take W & M 13-12.

Last game of the day.... Rematch: Dogs vs. Winona State
If it wasn't evident before it was clear now... Dogs were dead. So tired they were being dragged by the leash. They started in a hole down 2. But point by point, Defense picked up the slack left by offense. Another close game that came down to two points and one player. Mike Ogren. In two points, the rookie and Freshman racked up 1 score, 2 D's and a assist. One of those D's was a ridiculous sky over Winona's deep darkhorse. Dogs win the rematch 14-12.

So all in all, the Dogs had a very tiring weekend. Which they are fixing now during spring break. The Dogs have the week off (to do running on their own) and then they come back more ready then ever to blow the lid off of Southerns at Statesboro.

Returning after being cleared to play is Andrew Roca who's determination matches that of a Dog (of War) chasing cars. Keep on going 96' Chevy Impala... I'll catch you sooner or later.

Now to give credit where credit is due...

Veteren of the Weekend: Quint Wharton
He played through injury to still make amazing rips and kept the offensive flow moving.

Rookie of the Weekend: Dan Andrews
Very impressive and wide range of skills shown throughout the weekend.

Freshman of the Weekend: Mike "Ogre" Ogren
Only because his parents were there. But seriously, this kid has got some serious talent waiting to erupt.

Stay Classy Dogs... Video should be up before Southerns. If Mike Hickson gets me his Dad's footage... before then.

-------------> NoPy Out? ------------<

Ultimax Wrap-Up Part Duex

(Sorry bout the double e-mail, blogger is very sensitive)
and we continue...

Coming into the weekend taking the 7th seed, the Dogs were in a pool including Regional rivals Duke and UNC-W, and in a pool with a lesser-known PA team from Millersville.

The Dogs were coming into North Carolina hurting with both Hickson's (Michael, Scotty), Kofi Thompson, and others that could not make the trip out. Along with absences, the Dogs had to deal with the unfortunate knee and ankle injury of Andrew Roca that happened the Tuesday practice before. Now equipped with a fancy Don Joy brace, his return is questionable for the Tally Classic.

Saturday:
Millersville was a big surprise in this group as they showed the Dogs in the first game that it didn't matter if no one has ever heard of them. They played hard and came down with great catches that saved them each game. The Dogs however kept it close as they started inching back. Coach Bill Igar was testing out some new lines and new strategies that would assure victory in this very chilly, windy morning. Leading away the defense was Ben "Lefty" Kuykendall and John "Waldo" Sullivan. There line was fresh with the middle tier which took a huge step up on the team this weekend. Leading away the offense was Brandon Geick and newcomer Handler Kyle Bettis, who really came into this position almost seamlessly. The Dogs O-line consisted of Quint Wharton, Jeff Surmin, Brandon "COLDShaw" Shaw, and some new faces along the way such as Matt Carlson. The Dogs lost this one 9-12.

Duke Game (AKA the Matt Carlson Miracle Game)
With a hard loss to an unknown, the Dogs had to push through and beat their Regional rivals setting the tone for the year. This is where Matt Carlson comes into play... He couldn't be stopped. Period. Racking up almost 5 D's and 4 scores, he was almost as deadly on offense as he was on defense... Almost. Because this kid was covering Duke's most solid handler/cutter/do-it-all type and shut him down for the edge we needed to win. This game started Matt Carlson's amazing weekend, without a doubt Player of the Weekend. The offense putting it in when we needed it and the defense wearing them down as well as on a turn "Lefty" letting the guns loose... the Dogs came away from the game victorious 11-10.

UNC-W
Coming fresh off the knowledge that Millersville just beat UNC-W, the Dogs still had hope to take the 2nd seed in our pool, just have to beat the Seamen. UNC-W still a Regional darkhorse at times, played a hard fought game against the Dogs. Matt Carlson is still putting in work with the help of unstoppable break throws by Brandon Geick. Kyle Bettis and Jeff Surmin were both handling and making it look easy at certain points. The Dogs took it to almost to universe point, and lost it right on the goal line. Tough way to end the game and day, but the Dogs looked forward to dominating Sunday. Final Score: 14-16 UNC-W.

Saturday Night/Sunday Morning Before the Games:
In the first match of the "Markers", Dan Andrews took the Gold. No one got injured doing this game so thats good enough for me.

Sunday:

First game of the day was Rhode Island. All the teams the Dogs played that day were relatively unknown, but UCF won't make that mistake twice. This game was a fight to the finish. The Dogs really picked up their man defense this weekend and this game was a little different. All Zone, All Breaks... For Geick that is. On the O side, they kept breaks to a minimum and kept the disc moving. On D side everyone wanted a piece. By the end of the game, the Dogs racked up on D's and almost got two callahans (on the same point). Charles Andrews caught the game winning Callahan that started the day off right. UCF takes it 9-8.

After Rhode Island, Edinboro, Drexyl, and George Mason didn't keep within 5 points of the Dogs.

The Dogs blewout Sunday feeling the sting of not being in the Championship Bracket... But the Dogs still played as if they were in the Championship bracket.

So some shout outs...

Player of the Weekend: Matt Carlson

Vet of the Weekend: Kyle Bettis

Rookie of the Weekend: Taylor Armstrong (made a recovery for the first day and made a huge play that put the Dogs closer to a win)

Markers Champ: Dan Andrews (he'll be defending his title against the B-Team and Womens team come Southerns)

Tally Classic comes up this weekend and all the Dogs except for Roca (for now) are ready to play. This should be the Dogs first big test with their full roster.

Someone took their time and effort to push sleep aside and finish the Ultimax video in one sitting. What a nice guy.

========> NoPy Out.

Dogs of War 2010: Ultimax showing off all that UCF has to offer with only one week of spring practice under their belts.

Havoc (with low numbers) performed as best they could have despite some injuries on Saturday. Beating SCAD bumped Havoc slightly above last place which truly defines working from the ground up. Havoc has a lot of potential to improve this year and we are all waiting for an upset or two come Sectionals.

Janus was a good start for the Dogs season, however competition will only increase from here... Going 5-0 on Saturday with 2 wins against the Giants, the Dogs battled in zone and through zone during this very windy weekend. Defense was the name of the game for the Dogs, as offense still has a couple kinks to work out. It was quite a site for other teams with loaded sidelines of eager Dog rookies and veterans alike, itching to play. Unfortunately Sunday was a different story as an early loss to Title Town (Gainesville: Janus Champions) kept them out of the final, but the two games after was a time for the rookies to shine and let Coach Bill have a closer look when the game is up to them. The Dogs finished 7-1.

So i'm gonna go ahead a give my mad props for the weekend and for the tournament itself...

Veteran of the Weekend: Charles Andrews
Great defense and some sick rips by the new 22 kept the Dog sidelines pumped and in the game. He certainly led the team at points by putting it all out on the field and letting his newly found swagger do the talking.

Rookie of the Weekend: Taylor Armstrong and Kevin Shields deserve a lot of credit for coming even though they knew they were not playing due to injury. They filmed and threw with us between games and shared all the highs and lows throughout the weekend.

But as for playing, I would like to give credit to Matt Carlson.
Tireless. That's all you have to say when watching Matt play. He put in a lot of effort and in return he saw a lot of the disc. Honorable mention: Nick Pizza

AS FOR THE LADIES!!!!!
SIRENS were crowned champions of the college women's bracket, winning on universe against Fuel (UF). With a solid roster and girls like Tina Hierlkosozzser, Ashley Schmerxzixzer, Leanne Michael Thompson, and Leisha Cavalierro leading the way... This is definitely a great start to the season and Joe Tilley's coaching career. The women battled long and hard (that's what she said), especially in the final, and with phenomenal catches and play by Kayla Wright and sweeeeeet Molly Kovacs, the Women finished out their Sunday with an imaginary Tiara they can hold over the rest of the women in Florida.

UCF certainly made an impact at Janus as 5 of its own were in the Gnomes and Giants game. For the Gnomes, Brandon Geick, Kyle Krumwiede and Joe Segal (Alumni) played above the height of 5'8" and making some sweet throws for Perales and Jimmy Price to pull down.

As for the Giants (who were ahead before the game was called due to weather concern), Andrew Roca and Danny "Nitro" Bumgarner (Alumni) were ripping down anything remotely in the 50:50 range. Roca tallied on some fantasy points with 2 D's, 1 assist and a Skying score, while Danny was just sober enough to throw away a couple before making an improbable layout catch.... that was called back after a travel call.

UCF will be known for sure this year as one of the leading College Ultimate programs in the country... whether it be the Dogs, Havoc or Sirens, we will be known.

----)> Nopy Out!

P.S. And we'd like to thank all the teams, park staff, UCF Women's Team volunteers, and friends/family for coming out, supporting, and cleaning up after themselves. The only thing that didn't go as planned were the games themselves... upsets galore. Where UCF-Y had an unfortunate weekend and FIT had a solid seed-breaking weekend.

The Florida B split squads put up a fight in all their games and eventually landing in both sides of the semi's. 1 seed Emory falls short to 3 seed UCF-X that played an tireless Saturday. Meeting UCF-X in the finals was FSU's A-team.

No matter how hard UCF-X fought, the DUF train rolled and depth hurt UCF-X. But where UCF lacked in depth, the surely made it up in effort. All rookies and vets alike left it all on the field.

Final Score:
FSU 11 - UCF(X)7

And for your amusement and pleasure (with help from Leanne and Leisha filming) I've made a solid "Bad News Dogs" blooper video... LOLfest.

PS> A highlight video from this weekend is soon to come... just had to get the fun stuff outta the way first!

~~~~~~> NopY out.
Enjoy...
5th Annual Kennel Kickoff Preview
This coming weekend is the 5th Annual Kennel Kickoff Hosted by UCF, and UCF has expanded this tournament to the biggest Kennel has ever been... 18 teams! Here's a preview of what's to come at this tournament...
EMORY JUICE
Taking the one seed is Emory, despite the loss of two key players; Gainer and "Mr. Timeout" Arvil Nagpal... Not only because they won Kennel last year, but because they have also gained UVA's Robert Runner and Duke's David Berendes, who were teammates on the 2009 Club Championship team out of Atlanta: Chain Lightning. With supporting cast member Matt Wetzel, these three will certainly make some noise, I mean they have to make noise!!! They're the one seed!!!
FSU DUF
The "uber competitive" DUF takes the second seed with a young and talented roster, showing up in the finals of Kennel last year and also having a great season along the way. The loss of Ryan "Rook" Thompson puts a dent in there handling and defensive core, but standout Daniel Petronio will most likely find a way to fill the gap with young, new talent and a supporting cast eager for competition.
UCF X and Y
UCF tryouts start THIS WEEKEND and the seperation of the teams will keep the focus on rookies and B-teamers in hopes they will impact the team. With captains Andrew Roca and Jeff Surmin separated, the teams will definitely have a fighting chance against any and all opposition. With standout vets Brandon Geick, Quint Wharton and AC Freshman of the Year Michael Hickson, the Dogs both X and Y will definitely be a thorn in everyone's paw. Be sure to see some stellar plays from vets and rookies alike... this I can assure you.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 223px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_d9M7zLzwfLY/SvHwr2FYYUI/AAAAAAAAALE/LM7uXNuW5qg/s320/kennesaw-state-university~s600x600.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5400362064237060418" />
KENNESAW STATE BIDNESS
I don't know much about Bidness, but from their last season results and their past history I'm sure every game will be surprising...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 69px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_d9M7zLzwfLY/SvHy2-Jh4ZI/AAAAAAAAALU/9kn4l--XZn4/s320/logo.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5400364454403760530" />
USF SCALLYWAGS
The Scallywags are not to be counted out this year despite the loss of club foundations such as Roeland and Thomas Reyniers as well as Stuart Richards... because Captain Seth Richards still makes things possible with precise throws and annoying defense. With some solid rookies last year and most likely impressive ones this year, I'm sure USF will break seed...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 82px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_d9M7zLzwfLY/SvHovGsH-kI/AAAAAAAAAKM/-t9zt07ZbBQ/s320/header.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5400353324141115970" />
UM Willy Willies
The Willy Willies are coming and there in town to beat rivals USF, UCF, and UF-B. I heart you TJ.
There are also B-teams and newcomers to Kennel such as FAU, Eckerd, FGCU, Rollins, and a Naval Nuclear Power School! I'm not educated on them, but I will make an educated guess that at least one will upset somebody.
WILDCARD PICKS
FIT and Valdosta State. FTS went to Toss with 13 people, ended up with 11, lost on universe blah blah blah... I actually have some news to report. The block has ended with an FTS win at sectionals, its first since coming into existence. With other regions and sections falling short on the number of teams, there were four bids into regionals for the Florida Section. FTS wasn't worried, but they didn't settle for just making it in... they wanted the gold.
Seeded at 3rd in the tournament, behind Tampa's Uproar and Gainesville's Florida, FTS had a mission to not only break seed, but to obliterate any thought that they should have been seeded 3rd. First things first however, they had to prove it with 5 wins in a row on Saturday.
First game of the day was against the Wailers, in which FTS had to come out strong if they wanted to set a good tone for the rest of the day. A couple of weird catches worthy of ESPN top 10 and a solid turnover offense later, FTS came out with a win 11-6.
But it's not enough....
Midnight Special was next, the only Masters team out of the section (who unfortunately had to forfiet, but wanted to scrimmage FTS anyways). It was time to work on their zone offense and defense... With solid handling by Brandon Geick and Joe Segal, and solid popping by Bill Igar and Phil Stokes, it was hard to imagine them getting broken. FTS wins 11-0.
Still not enough, as FTS takes on their rival from Tampa: Uproar. FTS still had a bitter feeling as Uproar beat them on universe in the semis at Toss in the Moss. It was time to pull out everything they had to win this game. Needless to say, it was one of the most intense games FTS has ever played in as pushing, yelling, calls, and spikes amped up the game a couple notches. However, despite the intensity, both teams played their heart out to universe point and FTS came up victorious. Solid D by FTS' own Matt Robinson, Quint Wharton, Mike and Scotty Hickson, Danny Bumgarner Garret Braun and Kyle Bettis led the charge in the 2nd half. FTS takes down uproar 12-11.
Post Uproar, there was nothing any team could do to stop the FTS train on its way to finals. FTS takes its counterpart For The Glory 11-2 and Tallahassee's Mark It Zero 11-6.
FTS makes it to the finals, and looks forward to finally beating Florida when it mattered most.
11:30am on Sunday and FTS is beyond warmed up and pumped up. Florida rolls in with 8, missing their core, but it doesnt matter to FTS. The team isn't called Brodie, it's called Florida, and regardless they wanted to destroy both. It wasn't a game to FTS anymore, it was an insult that, unfortunately, the remaining 8 had to pay for... Countless amounts of D's on FTS side got them to take half 7-5 but it was sloppy on O and turnover O. 2nd half came, and FTS came out the way they always should, grabbing the reins, ripping them off, bolting a steering wheel (in true America fashion), and driving them into the ground. FTS takes Florida and WINS sectionals with a score of 13-6.
Congratulations to FTS and thank you Interstate Courier Service Inc., for sponsoring.
Look for a preview of Regionals on here as FTS will probably take the 4th or 5th seed.
tick tick...........
BOOOOOOOM!
-------->Nopy out.
SBC Preview
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 396px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_d9M7zLzwfLY/SlfgLEgZ7EI/AAAAAAAAAIM/acmZUr8KObk/s400/paperboy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356996762573335618" />
The 1st Annual Swan Boat Classic is this weekend and it seems to be a preview for the Florida Open Club Sectionals; as the SBC has grabbed the best open teams in the state.
Here is the seedings and schedule as of today:
Swan Boat Classic: "July 11 - July 12
Orlando, FL
Pool A
A1: Florida (1)
A2: Mark it Zero (4)
A3: Ninja Cats (5)
A4: Miami (7)
A5: Omen (10)
Sat Game Fld Score Game Fld Score
9:00
10:30 A1-A5 1 -    A2-A4 2 -
10:45
12:15 A1-A3 1 -    A4-A5 2 -
12:30
2:00  A1-A4 1 -    A2-A3 2 -
2:15
3:45  A1-A2 1 -    A3-A5 2 -
4:00
5:30  A2-A5 1 -    A3-A4 2 -
Pool B
B1: For The Story (2)
B2: Vicious Cycle (3)
B3: Tampa Club Team (6)
B4: Hogtown Wailers (8)
B5: Suck My Disc (9)
Sat Game Fld Score Game Fld Score
9:00
10:30 B1-B5 3 -    B2-B4 4 -
10:45
12:15 B1-B3 3 -    B4-B5 4 -
12:30
2:00  B1-B4 3 -    B2-B3 4 -
2:15
3:45  B1-B2 3 -    B3-B5 4 -
4:00
5:30  B2-B5 3 -    B3-B4 4 -
At the top of Pool A is Flroida, who was a favorite in the College Championship Series in the college season until they fell short at Regionals. Florida takes the number 1 seed, with a record of 2-0 against sectional rivals (FTS and Tampa?).
Pool B is a very strong pool with probably the best the state has to offer. Teams such as Tampa and Vicious Cycle can end up taking the pool or at least stir things up. Vicious Cycle's re-appearance in the Club Scene has made Gainesville a strong force at Sectionals, and this weekend they are going to make the presence known. I'm not too sure what Tampa's bringing to the table... but if USF has their core this weekend, be looking to see some connections... or at least some entertaining arguements with eachother.
As for FTS!.... FTS will have they're time to shine this weekend, as they have become more of a unit and have a versatile line-up, which includes players from around Florida, a single Georgian (from Georgia), and even a smart person from Harvard. Here is the un-official roster:
Morgan Bambace
Matt Robinson
Andrew Roca
Bill Igar
Brandon Geick
Brian Hoke
Brian 'Laser' Pabst
Charles Andrews
Jeff Surmin
Joe Tilley
Kyle Bettis
Matt Reedy
Mike Hickson
Phil Stokes
Quint Wharton
John 'Waldo' Sullivan
Scotty Hickson
Thomas Bobango
Joe Segal
Will Blake
Garret Braun
Jason Sherman
Assuming that FTS shows up in numbers and ready to play, it should be an interesting Saturday, as well as a "what up tit-tilating" Sunday.
Let's roll.................................................................
Nopy out------------------------------------>
FTS Sunday Practice is Totally Cancelled!
In light of Father's Day this weekend, FTS will not be holding practice this Sunday (21st). Spider Silk has been in the Games for two years now, usually being made up of a Orlando, FTS, and a couple UF girls. The past three years, however, have been dominated by the Jacksonville bred Jukebox Hero. Although Spider Silk didn't beat them in the finals, Spider Silk won the hearts of all the spectators (probably not Sweet Chili).
First and foremost I would like to thank FTS' own Brandon Geick for putting together a hosh-posh of talent. A big deal of thanks is also in order to all the girls and guys who made it out there, we might not have had the best players (debatable), but we did have the best chemistry and the best cheers (not debatable).
One Manamana for the road... Southerns is one for the history books for two reasons: 1. Robert Bobango has never been so drunk for such an extended period of time (around 36 hours) and the night is still young! 2. FTS has never witnessed chemistry of this magnitude so early on...
The weekend started with a simple misunderstanding of who was gonna sleep in Surmin's magical trailer, which led to Brandon Geick being naked for 30 mins running around the campsite, Beilan dumping bags of clothes around the campsite, and Roca falling asleep in Quint's car. So far so good..
Come Saturday morning FTS faced off against Chain's potential recruits, and we saw a familiar face on the team... Cameron Amey (ex-Dog/Story). Chemistry started here for FTS as we saw the worst of it. Mis-communication, bad decisions, and frustration... sounds like a beginning to a team put together no more than a week before. FTS took the beating, but pulled the lesson out of the game... welcome to club, welcome to competition. Chain-X? takes FTS 13-3.
With the worst behind them, FTS starts fresh after a win! oh, I mean a bye... SAME THING! FTS moves to a new field where we just watched Overthrow, who beat FTS last year at the beginning of Regionals, beat Vicious Cycle in a hard fought game. The game starts off with hard D by FTS as Matt Robinson and Bill Igar leading the D's offensive charge. After trading turnovers, FTS gets the disc half-field after a timeout. Bill to Matt, Quint Wharton takes the under and throws an upline pass for a score to Roca. FTS up 1-0. Sick D and layouts like FTS has never seen before lead to two more breaks. While D was playing hard, O was playing consistent. Joe Segal and Brandon Geick were given the green light and all hucks were a go. Surprisingly, Michael Hickson (UCF-AC FOTY)was making throws as if he was a handler. While the FTS vets were the bricks, the recruits and rookies were the mortar. All the rooks and recruits handled the change from college to club almost seamlessly; adapting to the FTS way in no time. UCF takes Overthrow 13-8?.
Next up, Vicious Cycle. I really don't have much to say about this game, but from what I remember, this was a great offensive game. With all FTS players taking their turn on O and doing work. FTS takes Vicious 12-9?. (UPA doesn't update the tournament and I don't really remember the scores)
With one day down, FTS hits the campsite and Edward Forty-Hands is a go. Roca gets Icehouse (unaware of the consequences) and with a little help from his friends, Roca almost finishes both. With one sip left, he blasts 8.5 full blown projectile vomit on the campgrounds (a new FTS and World Record). Chumbawumba---> keeps on drinking and tabletops (park bench) around 9 people... Mostly UF and USF guys... notables: Alton Gaines, TJ McCourt, Bobby (USF), and Robert Bobango.
HERE COMES SUNDAY. First game of the day is against Mississippi. Fairly unknown, but FTS doesn't care and starts the game with a break. Matt Robinson throws down more and more D-Generation X crotch insults and the fire builds within FTS. FTS plays a hard first half, but lacks a little in the second half. The cap is on, FTS takes the game, but they need a lot more than that to take on Florida (mostly made up of Florid's college team).
Florida starts the game with three breaks and takes half 8-3. FTS SEEMS content with the horrible half, but immediately puts themselves back in the game with great D and solid O. Before they knew it, FTS was in a comeback showcase game with Chain and other teams watching a honorable comeback... 11-9 Florida. FTS just gets the break that can save them and in the middle of the point, hard cap goes on. The game is not tied, FTS will play out the point, but Florida will move on to the semis.
FTS played with a lot of heart and through thick and thin times. The only tournament where you can say, "God, FTS' sideline is fucking annoying." Way to pick eachother up FTS.
With two more tuesday practices and one sunday practice before final cuts, all we have to say is keep putting up the friz, have fun, and play hard. Everyone is anticipating to see what we can do this year and yes that means Chain, El Diablo and Florida. Let's keep the ball rolling. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . -Nopy out
UPDATE: LOOK FOR A HIGHLIGHT VIDEO TO COME...
Club Southerns: Here Comes FTS
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 297px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_d9M7zLzwfLY/Silhaz-8s9I/AAAAAAAAAH0/EIxnPMrPbfI/s400/truckpeach-300x297.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5343909546110530514" />
Story will be at Club Southerns this weekend wielding the mighty power that the greater orlando area has to offer. If you are a student at UCF you are ok to come and play, if you are not you are also ok, but you must: PLAY AT YOUR OWN RISK AND NOT SUE UCF IF YOU HAPPEN TO GET INJURED AT THE FIELDS. Remember to bring your student IDs just in case, and if you don't have one remember to bring a funny excuse or a dollar to bribe with. Come on out still!! Just dont say anything about FTS! Check out the description om the facebook event and my secret code word stuff!! Be prepared for the "UCF related try-outs" on MAY 31!! The name FTS is still a little ambiguous, but it refers to doing things "for the story". Like...
"If you've gotten drunk at the Saturday night party at Club Nationals in Sarasota, went home with a local girl, only to wake up and have to meet her parents before she drops you off at Sunday finals to receive a Spirit of the Game award... If your last name is used as a metaphor for a drunken hookup, especially if it was a bad decision... If you like to wear shiny gold shorts when playing... If you like to tell phrases like 'Go for the Gold!!!' to make things awkward for your friend that is hitting on a girl... This team is for you!! We do things FOR THE STORY!!"
- Brandon Perales
Hence we pride ourselves in being a competitive team with a wild, fun side.
FTS was looking to base its talent from the "Cinderella college team, UCF, and raw, untested athletes from the Melbourne area." FTS was looking to take the Florida section by storm and make a stong showing at South regionals; being led by ex-Vicious Cycle players (2006 Nationals Quarterfinalists).
Along with Perales and Steward, FTS picked up notable ECU Alum Matt Robinson and a handful of UCF players including Bill Igar, Cameron Amey, Danny Bumgarner, Ken McWilliams, Andrew Roca, Phil Stokes, Morgan Bambace, Ted Barnett, Brian "Laser" Pabst, and Joe Tilley.
Although FTS made a strong showing at sectionals, they could not say the same about regionals; along with a few injuries: Amey (pulled disc in back) and Roca (dislocated shoulder). The young FTS had a hopeful future...
Come summer 2008, talks of a Florida "combo" team meant a loss of the core FTS players. The Florida combo team, Ronin, picked up the best Florida had to offer (Gainesville, Tampa, Orlando/Melbourne, Jacksonville). From FTS, Ronin picked up Perales (who helped captain and start Ronin), Steward, Amey, Igar, Bumgarner, Robinson, Barnett, and McWilliams.
Bambace and Stokes picked up the deteriorated FTS, along with "Ronin Rejects"
Andrew Roca, Ryan "T" Torvik, Brian "Laser" Pabst, and Joe Tilley. It seemed being dropped from Ronin was the best thing for FTS and the future of UCF. FTS picked up UCF Dogs Brandon Geick, Joe Segal, Jon Beilan, and Steve Schade. It now became apparent that FTS would be a haven and a breeding ground for great UCF players such as Mike Hickson.
FTS had a good* sectionals and had a hard fought regionals in Texas; FTS got a good feel or the highly competitive Club experience.
Come summer 2009, FTS will be back and stronger than ever as Ronin was severely disbanded post a unsatisfying showing at Regionals '08. Coming back will be Bill Igar and Matt Robinson. From UCF, the selection is infinite. It seems that FTS will be the premier team in Florida this year, as star players from FSU, FIT, Tampa, and Orlando Rec-League have rumored to show interest.
This year we intend to be a very competitive Club team, looking for hard-working, dedicated, and talented Ultimate players. Of course with summer comes fun, of which we will have a lot; traveling all over the southeast US and maybe even further.
Look here for updated information on try-outs (RUMORED** to be June 6-7).
Have fun and be competitive with FTS (OR WHATEVER NAME WE CHANGE IT TO; IF WE DO SO)!!!!!!!!!!
Welcome to Summer... But things looked hopeful as Roca was cleared to play... only problem was he had to throw left handed.
The Dogs came onto a familiar field with Superman theme music to excite them while they put on their cleats. A quick chat about what Regionals means, and then VOODOO PEOPLE. Dogs get pumped, green light is on, and the Dogs are ready to roll...
UCF v. Emory
The Dogs showed some fire going into the Emory game, getting a quick score and and a break against back-2-back. Unfortunately, the fire did not last, the Dogs got broken and traded points until half. Emory takes half 8-7. Sam Gainer is coming down with everything, but a cold. The Dogs had a hard time converting D's into scores.
*on a very hilarious note, an Emory player trys to call a timeout... but fails to make the "T" or say timeout (according to observer Gerics).
2nd half: Emory gets two breaks and the Dogs start to shoot themselves in the foot. The Dogs come back late to make it 12-14, from being down 10-13. Its not enough Emory takes it 15-12.
UCF v. VTech
The Dogs came into the Vtech game surely fired up considering they lost a close one to Emory. O-line starts it off with a huck to score, 1-0 UCF. D-line puts the fire on, a tight mark and near stall by Andrew Roca makes VTech punt it deep into the Dogs endzone. Nick "Force Flick" Ricke sees Roca by himself and decides to put a full-field backhand huck from the back of the endzone. Roca runs it down, holding the box against a Vtech player, gets fouled from behind, stumbles, and lays out for a score with a luminous pink cast. UCF gets a break 2-0. UCF continues to roll with great offense on a turn by Ricke and John "Waldo" Sullivan. UCF trades points with Vtech, then gets two breaks in a row; the last a huck to Thomas "SLOOOW" Bobango skying two Vtech players. UCF takes half 8-3.
UCF talks about keeping the intensity and keeping the ball rolling trying to get ahead in point differential in case of a three way tie for second. Vtech has no way to stop the Dogs offense; they come down in a zone. Bad decisions and little kinks in the offense's armor lead to breaks by VTech. Before the Dogs knew it they found themselves in a game with VTech slowing creeping on the scoreboard... 11-9 UCF. The Dogs are playing their tails between there legs now and manage to score one, while VTech break 3. UCF gets the pull, (not knowing the hard cap was on) Segal and Geick work it hard to the endzone, using Belian, Surmin and Phil Stokes as outlets... 13-12 UCF. After discussion with the Regional Coordinator, the game is not tied, the next round is almost underway, and the RC caps the game. UCF sneaks by with a W.
UCF v. Virginia
Coming off a close one, the Dogs quickly put the VTech game behind them and wander to the next field. The Dogs face the out-of-nowhere powerhouse Virgina. Dogs start out on offense and starts to work it up slowly and patiently against Virginia; a mis-communication leads to a turn and Night Train starts off with a break. The Dogs can't connect, leading to 2 more breaks by Night Train. WHOLESALE! Coach Bill Igar puts in a fresh and determined line, but experience lacks and the Dogs go down another break. The Dog's o-line gets a score and the D is looking to make up the difference... Night Train's Robert Runner runs the O and D and easily paves the path for UVA. UVA takes half 8-3. The Dogs look to the future and relies on Emory to win over VTech, leading to a do-or-die crossover against Tennessee. The Dogs rest some players in the second half and mentally prepare for the next game. Although, the Dogs were playing 'laxed, Daniel "Foot" Jakob and Brian "Rookie" Rodino, lead the charge for the dog's first break. Sean "Smiley" Simon breaks out of his shell to come up with a sky and score for UCF. UVA takes UCF 15-5.
UCF talks of what they can do better in the next game and take some time to reflect. Loud sounds and a large crowd surround a lone VTech player. VTech beats Emory, making it a 3-way tie for 2nd. The Dogs couldn't keep up on the point differential and their season comes to abrupt end; an end that came too soon.
The Dogs are a young team with a new coach and for what it is worth, have had an exceptional and surprising season. New Dogs improved fast, old Dogs proved that Cameron Amey and Bill Igar aren't the only Dogs making a name for themselves, and the team as a whole has moved past it's pre-school days. One more year till 2010 REGIONALS, and be sure that the Dogs will knock out their teen stage during the club season, and its college stage during the fall. Come spring see the Dogs in its adult stage, playing big boy games. All of us with chest hair and mustaches of course.
Final Standings:
*1 - Viginia
*2 - Georgia
*3 - North Carolina State
4 - Florida
5T - North Carolina-Wilmington
5T - Tennessee
7T - North Carolina
7T - William and Mary
9T - Clemson
9T - Emory
9T - Georgia Tech
9T - Virginia Tech
13T - Central Florida
13T - Charleston
13T - Florida State
13T - James Madison
* qualifies for the 2009 UPA College Championships
Hilarious ending for Florida as their spring shenanigans come back to haunt them.
Lets hope Night Train, Jojah and Wolfpack make some indents at Nationals and get us some strength bids.
Good luck to the AC at Nationals.
NOPY Results
Andrew Roca: 10 votes
Morgan Bambace: 8 votes
Jon Beilan: 1 vote
Mike Hickson: 3,000 votes
Seems like Mike took the crown of Notoriously Obnoxious Player of the Year!
Runners up will get custom-made jackets presented at the banquet...
And Mike Hickson will get a beautiful customized hat (CROWN) made of recycled paper!
NEW POLL FOR CALLAHAN NOMINATION, TRY TO GET YOUR VOTE IN BEFORE YOU LEAVE FOR REGIONALS! Of course you can! It's Cameron Amey!
As soon as Cameron came to UCF, he already had a notch of ultimate on his belt. He and others (of whom two went to Florida and helped achieve a national championship in 2006) helped start the ultimate frisbee team at Lakewood Ranch High School.
Along with Danny "Nitro" Bumgarner, Stephen "Swill" Williams, Bill Igar, Brennan Landreville, and Adam Goldberg, Cameron help conceive the Ultimate Frisbee Club at UCF (Dogs Bio). Cameron was athletic, smart, and a quick learner. With the help of his fellow players, Cameron was shaping up to be solid addition to the Dogs of War.
When I showed up in 2006, Cameron was the player we all looked up to. He made the big plays look easy, and the easy plays look even easier. He stood out as a leader and made his presence known on the field and at practice. I couldn't tell you how many times I've had my ass eaten like it was Saturday night Taco Bell at 2am. And we all found out that if he yelled at you, he liked you.
In 2007 and 2008, Cameron easily became one of the best players in the region and noticable all around the nation. But off the field... Cameron was a solid guy.
When Cameron wasn't playing ultimate, he spent his time playing World of Warcraft, Super Smash Bros., and drinking with the team. Oh and he was majoring in Criminal Justice as well I think.... but that doesn't matter. He made sure that no one's excuse for missing practice was school.
Cameron's presence is still felt on and off the field; whether it be a sick D one of us makes that we remember Cameron doing it to Brodie or whether it be when we go downtown and remember Cameron getting kicked out of Firestone.
At CCC this year, UNC-W's coach asked me if Cameron "Army" was still playing this year. I said no he graduated and he said, "well at least we have a chance at regionals."
Thanks for everything Cappy.
Ben "Unlimited Rice Bowl" Carroll is Retarded
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_d9M7zLzwfLY/Se_Gbx7dZHI/AAAAAAAAAAg/aBHiH55-768/s320/n5118108_32653270_879.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5327695064764081266" />
Good luck on your Exam!
Forgot to mention Joe Tilley and Segal...
JOE TILLEY, JOE TILLEY, JOE TILLY! THERE IS HOPE ON THE HORIZON. 3 months of rest has done captain Phil (P-Money) Stokes good; as he is up and running*.  The Ambiguously Gay Duo (Jeff "Track Star" Surmin and Jon "Cheetah" Beilan) will be running the weekend with their relentless defense, tireless cutting, and quick handling. Speaking of handling, Nick Ricke will stiill somehow find a way to throw a 70yd huck into hurricane winds.
The freshmen and newly vets are starting to click and are beginning to step up into bigger roles. Like Matt "I can't believe he has a hand-webbing injury" Reedy taking on the wily handler position, Thomas "SLOOOW-BANGO" Bobango taking a break on hurting other players and starting to come down with some nasty D's and scores, Kyle "KY" Bettis being the golden boy Coach Bill has dreamed about, AND Charles "In Charge" Andrews continuing to get some NASTY D's.
you getting tired of nicknames and run-ons? .........................IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU'RE GETTING TIRED!!!!!
If you think the Dogs are gonna be a cake-walk at Regionals... you're gonna be sadly mistaken and you're gonna regret it.
The Dogs are looking forward to the "presumed" pool play schedule of playing V-Tech, rival Emory, and strong kids on the block Virginia.
Be looking for the Dogs to upset some teams and maybe even end a season or two.... we wouldn't mind keeping the tradition of ending UNC-W's run at nationals ALIVE!
The Dogs are going into Regionals with nothing to lose this year, so let's hope for a bright and shiny weekend because maybe the sun will shine on this underDOG's ass.
The
TJ McCourt for Callahan 2009.
